The first sound of Madame X was a slow, swaying invitation: Madonna and Maluma, in English and Spanish, dancing towards a new chapter.
The Song
Written with Mirwais, Maluma and Édgar Barrera, “Medellín” is built on a cha-cha-chá groove and named after Maluma’s home city in Colombia. Madonna sings of looking back at her younger self — and choosing to dance on.
The Video
Directed by Diana Kunst and Mau Morgó, the video introduced the character of Madame X: a secret agent, eye-patched and mysterious, presiding over a wedding feast with Maluma.
On Stage
It was part of the Madame X Tour in 2019 and 2020, and topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.
