“What It Feels Like for a Girl” asks men to imagine life under the rules women live by.
The Song
It opens with Charlotte Gainsbourg speaking a line from the film The Cement Garden. Guy Sigsworth had sampled David Torn’s 1987 album in the backing track, and Torn was later added as a co-writer.
The Video
Guy Ritchie directed the video, which shows Madonna on a violent crime spree. MTV and VH1 aired it only once, late at night.
