Notes

Released in July 1987 to accompany the screwball comedy Who’s That Girl, the soundtrack sets four new Madonna songs alongside tracks by Duncan Faure, Club Nouveau, Michael Davidson, Scritti Politti and Coati Mundi. Her four were written and produced with the two key collaborators of the period: Patrick Leonard on the title track and “The Look of Love”, and Stephen Bray on “Causing a Commotion” and “Can’t Stop”.

The film struggled; the music did not. “Who’s That Girl” became her sixth US No. 1 single and “Causing a Commotion” reached No. 2, while the album climbed to No. 7 in the United States and No. 4 in the United Kingdom, selling an estimated six million copies worldwide. It also lent its name to her first world tour that summer.
