“Sky Fits Heaven” is about finding your place — spiritually, and as a mother — and it borrows its idea from an unlikely source.

The Song

Parts of the lyric come from Max Blagg’s poem What Fits?, which had been used in a 1993 Gap advertisement. Madonna and Patrick Leonard turned it into a song about her spiritual studies and her daughter, with William Orbit giving it a fast, shimmering pulse.

Beyond the Album

It reached number 41 on Billboard’s US Dance Club Songs chart, and was performed in the Geisha act of the Drowned World Tour in 2001. Victor Calderone’s Future New Edit appears on Veronica Electronica.
