Material Gworrllllllll! is Madonna’s archive play at its most knowingly chaotic. Teaming with Saucy Santana, the track folds Madonna’s Material Girl legacy into Santana’s own viral “Material Girl” universe, creating a brash, camp, internet-age collision between 1980s pop iconography and 2020s queer club language.
This single belongs firmly in the archive/remix era because it does not simply remix a song; it remixes a persona. Material Gworrllllllll! turns “Material Girl” into a meme-age chant, loud enough to be silly, sharp enough to be deliberate, and camp enough to know exactly what it is doing.
